Luke Luke Luke
Luke is such an interesting book to lookat in its structure. I have found through studying Mark and through looking at the other gospels the differences in the gospels that I have never noticed before. Two years ago if i were to read the gospels i would have just read their stories and never looked at the differences that each writer incorporated into their texts, and thats why I find Luke interesting in the aspects of the way he writes and puts more of an emphasis on women playing a role in Jesus ministry. It appears that each writer wanted to bring out different aspects of Jesus' ministry so that the readers would not just see certain aspects of Jesus' ministry but instead all of the aspects such as showing women in the roles they played.

I can appreciate showing woman in important roles. The Family of God is just that, a family. There is certain roles that men have that God ordained them for specifically. There are other jobs that a woman has to do. Certain ministeries are better done by woman because we were crafted with the sensativity to do the right thing in that situation and likewise men in others. Jesus knew that women were going to be active members of His church. Luke's Gospel is written not as a bombastic womanistic statement but rather as a statement of facts. A secure woman does not need to screem out that she is important and that she has a role too, rather she sees a need and gets to work.
Before I came to college and started diving into my religion classes, I never paid much attention to the differences in the gospels. Since that time, my eyes have been opened a great deal to the personalities and writing styles of each author. I think it's interesting how each chooses to portray or stress a specific point.
