In the Jesus videos (the scene depicting the triumphal entry), the man leading the colt exclaims, "I'VE GOT THE HOLIEST DONKEY IN THE WORLD!!!" This donkey was just a donkey, but it symbolized the humility of the Messiah entering as a king rather than as a boistrous king on a grand white horse.
This first day of the Passion week began Jesus' journey to the cross. This is Jesus' first public admittance and display as Messiah. And as he enters, the inhabitants of Jerusalem are shooting their confetti, throwing their rice, and throwing down palm branches shouting "Hosanna! Hosanna!" What would it have been like to be there? Better yet, how would Jesus have entered Jerusalem (or New York City for that matter) in modern day? In a Yugo? And would we have welcomed him as he entered? And would we have turned on him as he carried the cross to Golgotha?

i so love to say that i would be worshipping the Lord day and night as he was here if i were there. i would love to say that i would NOT turn my back on christ as he was on his way to the skull. however, i do not know how i would react. Our lord is so worthy of praise. Him riding in on a donkey does make me feel some emotion of "why would the king of the universe do this?" you say he deserves the white horse, but how about this, THERE IS NOTHING ON THIS EARTH THAT IS DESERVING TO HAVE THE LORD RIDE IN ON.
